Holly Holden

Holly Holden is a singer and songwriter from London whose long-term love affair with Latin America and the Caribbean - and many years spent music-making in the region - have shaped her signature Spanglish tropical soul sound. Holly formed electric trio ‘Holly Holden y Su Banda’ in 2015 with whom she recorded and independently released 6 track EP Tropical Soul (2017) and her debut album Green Guava (2020). Together they performed at major UK music festivals including Glastonbury, Greenman and Boomtown as well as festivals in Europe, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and New York.

Since returning to London in 2022, after a time spent living in Mexico City, Holly has been working on a new album - al andar - with multi-instrumentalist and producer Greg Sanders (Juanita Euka). Composed on a cuatro and written mostly in Mexico and Colombia, this record has a more acoustic, folkloric sound and features some of the most respected and talented artists in the London Latin music scene including Luzmira Zerpa (Family Atlántica), accordion prodigy Hernando Arias and percussionists Will Fry (Jungle), Ernesto Marichales (New Regency Orchestra) and Fabio Moreno (Babo Moreno). Al Andar is due to be released in 2025. In 2024, Holly has supported Johnny Flynn on his UK tour, playing in venues including Alexandra Palace Theatre, Brighton Dome and Bristol Beacon. She also opened multi Latin Grammy winning Dominican singer Vicente Garcia’s concert in London. Aside from her solo project, Holly has been a member of the all-female and non-binary vocal collectives Deep Throat Choir in London and El Palomar in Mexico City. In 2013, she toured as a vocalist with dubstep producer Mala in live performances of his acclaimed album Mala in Cuba and, in 2019, sang in the live performances of his repertoire by the Outlook Orchestra. Holly is also member of Johnny Flynn’s River Band and The David Tattersal Group and has recorded vocals on a number of albums by The Wave Pictures. In 2023, she recorded an EP with DJ Jigüe in Havana, due to be released on Guampara Records in 2025.
