About Album

The first single from A Portrayal of the Latin Guitar introduces the album’s sonic world through the lens of Cuban tradition. It highlights the fluid movement between rhythms and the trio’s original approach to harmony, improvisation and form.

The piece was born from the first vamp of chords, with rumba as the rhythmic anchor. This vamp functions as the song’s central hook, a landing point that returns after each section — a kind of musical home following every momentary journey.

The interlude reveals another facet of the Trio’s identity: the creation of shifting sonic atmospheres and the intention to offer listeners both familiarity and surprise. It reflects the group’s ongoing search for a language where tradition, experimentation and narrative coexist.

The Trio’s soft rhythmic and timbre choices gives the rumba an unexpectedly gentle character, contrasting with its more festive traditional energy. This approach allows the transition between rumba and bolero to feel seamless. Bolero Feelin elements become especially clear in the harmonic density during the bass‑melody section: another example of the traditional and innovative approach of the Trio.
