Ivan Laranjeiro

Ivan Laranjeiro Trio is currently recording their very first album: A Portrayal of the Latin Guitar. This album proposes a unifying role of the Latin Guitar by melting Afro-Cuban and Brazilian repertoire.

In order to modernize the sound of the nylon string guitar, the double bass of Lautaro Vergara and drums of Enrico Locci are added. This trio plays in the borders of genres: the classical influence of the solo guitar pieces and bow-played double bass can be heard. The jazz influence of harmony, improvisation and theme-structured pieces as well. But this happens at the same time that the traditional rhythms and grooves are not only preserved and respected but are actually the starting-point of the project. This trio is a product of the multiculturality of Rotterdam, which sees the opportunity to unify such rich diversity through music.
