AUDIOMAZE WELCOMES: Awale Jant Band

We are thrilled to welcome 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝 to the AudioMaze family! Founded by Senegalese soul singer Birame Seck and French musician Thibaut Remy, this London-based collective is all about connecting cultures through music.

With a rich foundation in traditional Wolof storytelling from Birame’s heritage and Thibaut’s soulful sensibilities, Awale Jant Band creates a unique sound. Their mission is to uplift people, which is exactly what the name means in Wolof: “Let the sun pass through.”

Get ready for their new music in 2025! Their upcoming releases feature an incredible collaboration with Senegalese musicians, including bassist El Hadj Ndire and pianist Ibou Tall. The sound is a masterful blend of Senegalese soul, funk, Latin jazz, Afrobeat, and blues. Imagine Youssou N’dour meeting Fela Kuti to listen to desert blues.

The band features an all-star lineup with Michael Idowu (bass), Kaw Secka (percussion), Ben Brown (drums), John Martin (tenor saxophone), and George Jefford (trumpet). We can’t wait for you to hear what they’ve been working on!
