‘Ghost Secrets’ is the new release by Dareyn, the project helmed by
kemenche player and composer Emine Bostanci. She and the cellist Maya Fridman
are the heart of Dareyn, known for their refined and intuitive use of their
instruments. They collaborate with different artists for each project to explore new
musical possibilities.

For ‘Ghost Secrets’, their debut album, Emine Bostanci and Maya Fridman invited jazz/world percussionist Vinsent Planjer and jazz pianist Franz von Chossy to form the quartet Dareyn Q.7, focusing on the theme of the seven heavens – a concept that transcends diverse beliefs, cultures and nations.

People all over the world came up with a similar concept: seven levels to get to ‘enlightment’. Exploring what binds and divides these cultures and religions inspired 8 compositions that explore ancient narratives within a unique combination of instruments. Especially noticeable is the uncommon sound of the Istanbul kemenche, a rare Turkish instrument, of which Emine is the only professional player in more harmonies within the patterns of sound.

The album release concert was on 13 January 2024 in a sold out Bimhuis in Amsterdam – the live version of ‘Ghost Secrets’ promises to entice and enchant you, calling up a new world of sound, filled with story and history.
