Awale Jant Band returns with a powerful new single, “Sonko Bakhna,” a vibrant tribute to Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and the spirit of positive change. Five years since their last release, the band delivers a captivating fusion of Mbalax and Reggae, driven by an uplifting groove and a melodic bassline inspired by the Fulani style. The track, written by Birame Seck, features a stellar lineup, including renowned Senegalese jazz pianist Ibou Tall.

Birame Seck shares, “This song is a heartfelt tribute to Ousmane Sonko, a leader whose journey, much like Nelson Mandela’s, symbolizes resilience and hope for Senegal and all of Africa. The refrain, ‘Sonko is Diomaye, and Diomaye is Sonko,’ celebrates their shared vision for a brighter future.”
