Abar Kooh is an album deeply connected to nature and we believe that our music embodies its spirit.
Despite hailing from different cultural backgrounds, the two musicians share a deep connection to the modal and maqam traditions of their respective countries. Their music seamlessly blends Iranian and Armenian influences, resulting in a contemporary expression that is deeply rooted in their rich cultural heritages.
The sound of Abar Kooh is hypnotic and atmospheric, drawing listeners into a meditative trance from the very first note. The duo’s instrumentation of Duduk, Transverse Flute, Tar, and Tanbour, creates a sonic landscape that is earthy, spiritual, and emotionally profound. Their music beautifully marries ancient traditions with modern sensibilities, offering a harmonious balance between the past and the present.
